It's true. They were introduced in 1963 in response to parents who complained that their kids spilled Pixy Stix powder (and its even more precariously packaged cousin, the candy formerly known as  Lik-M-Aid, and now called Fun Dip) all over the upholstery in their brand new Chevy Impalas and Ford Fairlanes.
